Nick Frost has been officially cast as Gobber the Belch in the upcoming live-action remake of ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’
Who is Gobber the Belch?
Gobber the Belch is a tough Viking, the island of Berk’s blacksmith, and a close friend to the main character, Hiccup. Gobber is known for his one-armed appearance, which often serves as a source of humor in the story. He is voiced by actor Craig Ferguson in the animated films.
Recently, Gerard Butler joined the cast as Stoick the Vast, Hiccup’s father in the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ movie.
The filming began on June 30, 2023, in Los Angeles, CA, United States, and was halted due to the strikes, then again resumed production in November 2023. Recently, the cast for the live-action adaptation was announced, with Mason Thames and Nico Parker confirmed to play the film’s main leads, taking on the roles of Hiccup and Astrid.
Dean DeBlois, the director of the animated series, will also direct this live-action film. It’s produced by Marc Platt Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures, with DeBlois writing the script.
Frost, known for his roles in Edgar Wright’s movies like ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ is famous for working with Simon Pegg in The Cornetto Trilogy. This trilogy includes ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ ‘Hot Fuzz,’ and ‘The World’s End.’ He also wrote and starred in the comedy ‘Paul.’ Recently, Frost has been active on TV, featuring in shows like CBS’ ‘Why Women Kill,’ HBO’s ‘The Nevers,’ and AMC’s ‘Into the Badlands.’
‘How To Train Your Dragon’ will hit theaters on June 13, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
