Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, is reportedly appearing as an ally in the MCU, with The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene actually showing him asking the Fantastic Four for help.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, in Avengers: Doomsday, Victor asks the Fantastic Four for assistance with the Incursions.
They travel together with Steve Rogers to the MCU in their ship to warn everyone, then join forces to head to the X-Men universe, the source of the next Incursion that could destroy their Earths. They reportedly have a plan to fix everything.
Doctor Doom’s character in Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly be similar to Thanos in Infinity War, with Doom believing himself to be the hero. He views the multiversal incursions as a serious threat and is willing to use any force necessary to stop them and ultimately seize control.
The idea of Doom as an antihero, whose true goal is to stop the incursions and “save” the multiverse by fusing multiple timelines into a single universe, carries enormous potential.
We previously reported that Avengers: Doomsday will feature multiple versions of Doctor Doom. It remains unclear whether these are Doom variants from across the multiverse or a cult of characters wearing the Doom mask. The film is also said to include female Doom variants, as well as one Doom variant described as resembling a masked Hulk.
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron.
