Ryan Gosling is in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for an undisclosed role. Marvel President Kevin Feige recently met with Gosling to discuss a potential role in the MCU, as confirmed by Daniel RPK’s Patreon.
In 2022, when asked by MTV about the number of superhero roles he turned down, Gosling paused and stated, “It doesn’t matter.” Confirming he declined several roles, he added, “I wasn’t right for them. I’d love to do it, but what’s the one?”
“I always thought Ghost Rider was the coolest, but I always thought it was taken,” Gosling mentioned to Jake’s Takes around the same time. “Eva has already given me her blessing,” Gosling added, referring to his wife Eva Mendes’ approval of him playing the role. He concluded, “I just need the blessing from Kevin [Feige]… and Nicolas Cage.”
The New ‘Ghost Rider’ Project will be in ‘Marvel Spotlight’
Recently, Marvel Studios launched ‘Marvel Spotlight,’ inspired by Marvel Comics, to focus on character-driven stories set at the street level.
The first installment of ‘Marvel Spotlight’ will be the Disney+ series ‘Echo,’ and potential future projects may include Ghost Rider, Nova, Marvel Zombies, Sentry, Man-Thing, Ten Rings, Blade, Wonder Man, Punisher, White Tiger, and Daughters of Liberty.
Cage played Ghost Rider in two movies: ‘Ghost Rider’ (2007) and its sequel, ‘Spirit of Vengeance’ (2012). The character Robbie Reyes, portrayed by Gabriel Luna, appeared in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ in 2016–2017. There was a plan for a Ghost Rider series on Hulu, but it got canceled. Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a project called ‘Midnight Sons,’ which might include Ghost Rider.
