Sasha Calle Reveals Cut Rated-R Fight Scenes in 'The Flash'

DC Studios

Sasha Calle, the actress playing Supergirl in ‘The Flash,’ revealed that some fight scenes between Supergirl and General Zod (played by Michael Shannon) were cut from the film because they were rated R.

‘The Flash’ Contains Rated-R Fight Scenes between Supergirl and Zod

During an interview with Collider’s Steven Weintraub, Sasha Calle says some fight scenes between Supergirl and Zod had been removed from ‘The Flash’ because they were “a little too rated R.“

Calle said, “I think just the silo, the silo scene was a lot longer. I did a lot of stunts for that scene and some, I think, were a little too rated R, and they ended up kind of, you know, bringing it in. She added, “There are so many visual effects, but maybe one day I can ask Andy to let me see them because there were so many, and as much as I love stunts, I would love to see it. I would love to see the wholeness of those shots.”

Why Were Fight Scenes Between Supergirl and General Zod Removed From ‘The Flash’?

It’s ironic that the Supergirl vs. Zod scenes were allegedly cut from ‘The Flash’ due to being deemed “a little too rated-R,” while scenes involving young Barry running into a woman’s apartment naked, an F-bomb, and multiple sex jokes were somehow included without being removed.

‘The Flash’ is now playing in theaters. The film has earned $9 million from Thursday night previews at the domestic box office. The Flash, directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Christina Hodson, the plot is based on the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” and follows: Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian—albeit not the one he’s looking for. Read our review.

The film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton.

Produced by DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film’s sequel is already in development.
