Sean Baker‘s ‘Anora‘ starring Mikey Madison had its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2024. Also, it is fantastic news that Madison is receiving Oscar’s Best Actress buzz for her “star-making” performance in the film.
The film after the screening has received a huge standing ovation for the incredible director Sean Baker for his latest study of American sex workers, which is a hilariously heartbreaking ’70s-coded comedy, and for Madison, Yura Borisov, and Ivy Wolk.

According to the film’s official logline, “Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.”

Neon hasn’t yet revealed a release date for ‘Anora,’ but we can expect the film to be released in 2025.
