Sony’s upcoming R-rated SSU film Kraven the Hunter is set to release next month.
According to insider Daniel Richtman in a recent post on his Patreon, Kraven the Hunter has a final runtime of 1 hour and 59 minutes, making it the longest film in Sony’s SSU (Spider-Man Universe).
Additionally, Daniel RPK states that the film is “okay,” but still “better than Venom: The Last Dance.” My expectations are low for this adaptation of one of the most iconic villains in the Spider-Man universe. The budget is $130 million.
In Kraven the Hunter, Kraven (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is recruited by Calypso (Ariana DeBose) to stop a corrupt magnate named Gregory Herd (Alessandro Nivola) from doing something bad called the Gathering of the Five. Herd hires two people, the Foreigner and the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), to stop Kraven. Later, Kraven finds out that the Chameleon is his brother, and their father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), is the real villain and Herd’s boss. Calypso also works for Nikolai and tricks Kraven so that Nikolai can sacrifice him. But then Calypso falls in love with Kraven and helps him fight Nikolai.
The film is directed by J. C. Chandor from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk.
Produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and David Householter, with production companies including Columbia Pictures, Marvel Entertainment, TSG Entertainment, and Arad Productions.
Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on December 13, 2024.
