The Batman: Part II has been delayed by one year. It was previously set to hit theaters on October 2, 2026, but due to production delays, the release date has been pushed to October 1, 2027.
According to THR, The Batman: Part II has been delayed by one year and is now set for release on October 1, 2027, taking the spot previously occupied by Matt Reeves‘ untitled The Batman sequel, which was initially expected in 2025 but will now begin production in the third quarter of 2025. The sequel is not part of the DC universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, though they are overseeing the project.
The delay, which had already been hinted at, was due to Matt Reeves not having completed the sequel’s script yet. In an interview, Reeves mentioned that the script was nearly finished, but DC’s head, James Gunn, confirmed that the first draft of the script for The Batman: Part II is not yet complete. He said the script will be finished “when Matt [Reeves] thinks it’s ready.”
On Threads, Gunn says that Matt Reeves hasn’t even turned in a first draft for The Batman: Part II, said, “…it couldn’t be the case as there hasn’t yet been a first draft of the script.”
The Batman: Part II is a continuation of the Batman story created by Reeves. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone.
The Batman: Part II will hit theaters on October 1, 2027, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
