Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 production is scheduled to begin next year. According to rumors, the film now has an unofficial title: Spider-Man: King in Black. What does “King in Black” mean? It refers to Andy Serkis’ Knull, who will play a major role in the film.
The news about the title was shared by an insider, @Cryptic4KQual, on X. They wrote, “Take this with a grain of salt, but I’ve heard the next Spider-Man movie might be titled Spider-Man: King in Black.“
The script is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers and features Tom Hardy’s Venom and Knull (the Symbiote God). The film is being developed as a street-level story, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton on board to direct.
Recently, it has been confirmed that Marvel Studios and Sony have reportedly negotiated a new deal. This deal will have Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in three more solo films (Spider-Man 4-6) and three additional MCU films, including Avengers: Secret Wars and two others. Sony is trying to bring back Zendaya, while Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds will not be returning.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, and Avi Arad.
Spider-Man 4 was initially planned for June 27, 2025, in Sony’s schedule, but it has since been rescheduled to release in theaters in July 2026.
