How does Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One conclude?
At the end of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and Benji Dunn (Pegg) successfully retrieve the complete key from Gabriel (Morales), who attempted to sell it to the highest bidder. However, Gabriel escapes before Ethan can apprehend him. With the key in their control, Ethan and his team are aware of its significance in unlocking the computer system on the sunken Russian submarine, Sevastopol, where an early version of the rogue AI Entity is still located.
As Gabriel initiates a countdown to detonate a bridge, Ethan and Grace (Atwell) separate the locomotive from the train to save the passengers. Paris (Klementieff) arrives in time to rescue them and informs Ethan about Sevastopol before losing consciousness due to injuries. Ethan manages to flee the train with the key he had pickpocketed from Gabriel during their confrontation. He meets up with Benji, and they drive off with the key, planning to use it to access Sevastopol’s computer system and devise a strategy to either control or destroy the Entity.
The film concludes with Ethan and his team, now joined by Grace as an IMF member, preparing for their next mission to confront the Entity and prevent its catastrophic effects on global security.
