Yahya Abdul-Mateen II‘s Wonder Man is set to continue appearing in MCU movies, even after his upcoming show.
According to Alex Perez’s November 2024 Discord Q&A (via The Cosmic Circus), Abdul-Mateen II’s Wonder Man will reportedly appear in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Alex said, “It’ll be interesting to see where his story goes from there.”
The Wonder Man series, created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest for Disney+, is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and produced by Marvel Studios. The show shares continuity with the MCU film franchise, with Guest also serving as the showrunner. The show also stars Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, a failed actor serving Xu Wenwu; Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Simon’s brother; Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Simon’s agent; and Lauren Glazier. Stella Meghie and James Ponsoldt are set to direct.
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin in March 2025, with the Russo Brothers directing and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Unusually for Marvel, the Russo Brothers will also produce both films through their AGBO banner.
As reported, Avengers: Doomsday will be a multiverse film—because it’s the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. The plot of Avengers: Doomsday follows Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom, who isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place—Battleworld—under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
Wonder Man will consist of 10 episodes and will premiere on Disney+ in December 2025.
