Zack Snyder confirmed that a Rebel Moon RPG game is in the works. Speaking to The Nerd Queens Podcast Full Circle, Snyder revealed that he is in the works to make a role-playing game based on the Rebel Moon IP.
During the Nerd Queens Podcast Full Circle, Snyder spoke about the release of the Snyder Cut, his career with the DCEU, and his upcoming Netflix’s Rebel Moon. A fan asked to share any updates on Rebel Moon. Snyder replied, “it’s not a small time commitment to Rebel Moon […] the one thing that I’m really having a good time with, and I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about it, but erm, y’know, this RPG [game] that we’re doing.”
He continued, saying that the Rebel Moon game is “so immersive, so intense, and so huge. We talked about how we would do the game, and we just said, “Let’s go’ […] All I’ll say is that, “Like, I always wanted to do an RPG [game], and it was pitched to me at this scale.”
Rebel Moon is an epic space opera film based on a story Snyder co-created with Kurt Johnstad. The film is inspired by classic science-fiction films like “Star Wars” and “Seven Samurai.” The plot revolves around a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by a tyrannical ruler who seeks to conquer the world. The colony hires a group of mercenaries to protect them from the ruler’s army.
Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Ed Skrein as Balisarius, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Cary Elwes, and Anthony Hopkins. The film is set to be released on Netflix and is being produced by Stone Quarry Animation, the same company that produced the hit movie “Army of the Dead.”
Rebel Moon will be released on December 22, 2023, by Netflix, with a limited theatrical release. The sequel titled “Rebel Moon Part 2” is already announced.
