HBO’s Euphoria Season 3 is confirmed to start production next year. Zendaya recently discussed the importance of the time jump in Season 3, which has been necessitated by the lengthy gap between seasons as the cast ages.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, Zendaya said the cast—who were already pushing the boundaries of believability as teenagers—are now approaching their 30s, making the time jump crucial. She also mentioned that she doesn’t know exactly what the season will look like, but confirmed that the time jump is happening.
On X (Twitter), the official Euphoria handle confirmed that Season 3 is officially set to begin production in January 2025. HBO has also confirmed that all principal cast members — including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, and Hunter Schafer — are set to return.
According to Zendaya, exploring the characters outside of high school and how their childhood experiences will affect their adulthood and identities in a larger world is important.
Zendaya said, “I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.” Zendaya added, “I don’t actually know much about what is happening… It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens too.”
The Sam Levinson-created show follows a group of high school students as they navigate the trials and tribulations of adolescence, including drug use, sex, and identity issues. The show has earned nine Emmy Awards for its first two seasons, including two for Zendaya, making her the youngest two-time Emmy winner, and one for Colman Domingo.
Euphoria Seasons 1 and 2 are now available on Max.
