Sony’s untitled rom-com, starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, has reportedly begun filming. The production is currently taking place in Australia.
The film is directed by Will Gluck from a script originally written by Ilana Wolpert, which Gluck is rewriting. Most recently, Deadline reported that Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix) has recently joined the cast.
The plot is being kept under wraps, but it’s going to be an r-rated comedy. Produced by Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Gluck, with Sweeney executive producing for Fifty-Fifty Films. Natalie Sellers and Alyssa Altman are executive producing for RK Films.
Sydney Sweeney is best known for her roles in HBO’s The White Lotus and Euphoria. She will next appear in the Sony/Marvel film Madame Web, alongside Dakota Johnson. Sweeney is also attached to executive produce and appear in a new Barbarella film for Sony Pictures and has just joined Fifth Season to make a television adaptation of The Players Table. She also recently wrapped production on the National Anthem.
Glen Powell was most recently seen in Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick. The film has earned $1.489 billion globally, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2022. He also recently co-starred in and executive produced Sony’s historical war epic Devotion alongside Jonathan Majors.
