Max has revealed the first look for the ‘It‘ prequel series, ‘Welcome to Derry.’ The show, a prequel to Andy Muschietti‘s films ‘It’ (2017) and ‘It Chapter Two’ (2019), adapted from Stephen King‘s novel, can be seen in the first look below.
The video, starting at the 1:35 minute mark in the “Coming in 2025” section, features kids on bikes, Pennywise’s red balloon, and a voiceover saying, “This ain’t America; this is Derry.” The teaser confirms the ‘It’ prequel series will have a new cast and explore Pennywise’s origin in the 1960s with an entirely original storyline, as Stephen King did not write a prequel to ‘It.’
Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider, and Madeleine Stowe are in the cast.
In a statement, the Muschietti siblings said, “As teenagers, we took turns reading chapters of Stephen King’s It until the thick paperback fell to pieces.” They added, “It is an epic story that contains multitudes, far beyond what we could explore in our It movies. We can’t wait to share the depths of Steve’s novel, in all its heart, humor, humanity, and horror.”
