It has been reported that a few months before filming Henry Cavill‘s ‘Black Adam‘ cameo, Cavill reportedly fired his manager, Dany Garcia, who also manages Dwayne Johnson (The Rock).
Why Henry Cavill Fired His Manager?
Puck reported that Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson have been represented by the same agency (WME) and managed by the same person (Dany Garcia, who is also Johnson’s ex-wife and producing partner) for a considerable amount of time, which has been brought up in the majority of the coverage regarding Cavill’s return to the role of Superman in Black Adam and his subsequent firing by new DC chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The rep community believes Johnson pushed on Cavill’s final cameo to set up a Black Adam vs. Superman sequel starring two of Garcia’s clients. Team Rock even got new Warners film executives Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy to approve the scene after then-DC chief Walter Hamada said no.
According to the source, “Cavill actually fired Garcia a few months ago, before all the DC drama went down. If she was advocating especially hard for Cavill, it was in service of Johnson, and perhaps the fear that the movie wasn’t strong enough to lure audiences without a buzzy stunt. Alas, any and all of those fears were proven correct.”
According to THR, Cavill has agreed to return to his role as Superman in future DCU films. He also shot appearances in Black Adam and The Flash and was paid $250,000 each. Although the film Black Adam had already been released before Cavill’s departure, the cameo filmed for The Flash, which is set to be released on June 16, 2023, will be removed.
