Austin Butler and Matt Smith were spotted filming on the set of Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing in Queens, New York.
In the images, Butler is wearing a blue shirt and holding a cat, while Smith looks entirely different with a unique hairstyle.
Caught Stealing follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a burned-out former baseball player who is unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ’90s NYC.
Directed by Aronofsky from a screenplay by Charlie Huston, Caught Stealing is based on the book of the same name by Huston.
The film stars Butler as Hank Thompson, Zoë Kravitz as Yvonne, Regina King as Roman, Smith as Russ, Liev Schreiber, Will Brill as Jason, Bad Bunny as Colorado, Griffin Dunne as Paul, Vincent D’Onofrio, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Dale, Action Bronson, and George Abud.
In a statement, Aronofsky, whose credits include The Whale, Requiem for a Dream, and Black Swan, said, “I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”
Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group said, “Darren is one of the most brilliant audiovisual storytellers in the world, and adapting these wonderful books by Charlie Huston for Austin to star was too exciting an opportunity to not be a part of.”
Produced by Aronofsky alongside his Protozoa Pictures partner, Ari Handel.
Caught Stealing will hit theaters in 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
