Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for David F. Sandberg‘s Until Dawn, a live-action spin-off of the 2015 video game developed by Supermassive Games. Watch the trailer above.
Directed by Sandberg and written by Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman, the film is set in the same universe as the original game but features a standalone story that expands the series’ mythology.
Here’s the plot details for Until Dawn:
One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.
The film stars Ella Rubin as Clover Paul, Melanie’s younger sister; Michael Cimino as Max; Ji-young Yoo as Megan; Odessa A’zion as Nina; Belmont Cameli as Abel; Maia Mitchell as Melanie Paul, Clover’s older sister who mysteriously disappeared; and Peter Stormare as Hill.
The film is produced by Sandberg, Gary Dauberman, Mia Maniscalco, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan. It is a collaboration between production companies Screen Gems, PlayStation Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, Coin Operated, and Mangata.
Until Dawn is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
