Godzilla Minus Zero was officially previewed at CinemaCon 2026 during Toho’s presentation. Director Takashi Yamazaki confirmed that the sequel is set two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, bringing the kaiju to New York City. The film will also be shot in IMAX, marking a first for a Japanese movie.

Soon after the CinemaCon preview, the Godzilla Minus Zero footage was officially released on YouTube. Watch it below.
The footage opens with Akira Ifukube’s iconic Godzilla score playing over scenes of the kaiju’s destruction in Godzilla Minus One.
After some behind-the-scenes footage, the teaser begins with American soldiers saying, “If their operation fails, maybe we’ll finally get to use it.”
Minami Hamabe returns as Noriko Ōishi in an emotional shot of her crying.
Ryunosuke Kamiki is then shown reprising his role as Kōichi Shikishima, once again flying a plane through a field of floating debris surrounded by Godzilla’s blue radiation.
The teaser ends with a striking shot of Godzilla approaching the Statue of Liberty.
Godzilla Minus Zero is set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face a new calamity. Ryunosuke Kamiki returns as Koichi Shikishima, the hero who faced Godzilla in the first film, alongside Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo.
Toho will release Godzilla Minus Zero in Japan on November 3, 2026, and in the United States on November 6.
