Marvel Studios has released the first-look trailer for the VisionQuest series during the Disney D23 event. Following the events of WandaVision, Vision is hiding after escaping those who wanted to weaponize him. As he consults the embedded AIs, including Ultron, a bounty ends his quiet life and puts him on the run with a mysterious boy who may be his son.
The trailer opens with Vision living a quiet life and working at a British-style pub after the events of WandaVision. A coworker mentions the redhead he used to come in with, hinting at Wanda Maximoff. Vision sees “W+V” carved into the bar and says, “Home is just me.”
The biggest surprise is Ultron’s return (James Spader). Ultron appears in both his classic robotic form and as a human avatar, played by a bearded Spader. Vision tells him, “Human avatars only!” when he appears in robot form.
J.A.R.V.I.S. warns Vision that keeping Ultron around is dangerous, while Ultron sarcastically responds, “Dad? Papa? Peepaw?” Vision also struggles with whether his family with Wanda was ever real as Ultron’s influence grows.
Marvel’s VisionQuest Reveals Human Versions of F.R.I.D.A.Y., J.A.R.V.I.S., U and DUM-E
The trailer also shows human versions of several Stark-era AIs, including J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy), F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady), and E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire). They appear alongside Vision in a mansion-like setting.
Synopsis: When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.
The cast of VisionQuest includes Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
VisionQuest premieres October 14, 2026, on Disney+, with the eight-episode series officially included in Phase Six of the MCU.
