Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser have finally reunited, more than 25 years after The Mummy Returns. The duo is returning for The Mummy 4 alongside original cast members, promising an “action-heavy adventure” thriller.
When the first production images from London emerged, Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser were spotted separately. However, with production now underway, the two have finally been seen together on set.

The paparazzi photos show Weisz’s Evelyn Carnahan wearing a dark red skirt, a matching overcoat, and a black belt, while Fraser’s Rick O’Connell sports a brown jacket over a green-and-black flannel shirt, jeans, and matching brown boots.

Weisz and Fraser first starred together in The Mummy in 1999. They returned for the sequel, The Mummy Returns, in 2001. Their characters, Evelyn and Rick, fall in love in the first film and get married and have a child in the second. However, Weisz did not return for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Fraser starred in the film, while Maria Bello replaced Weisz as Evelyn. Weisz later explained to the U.K.-based ES Magazine (via ScreenRant) that she could not join the film because its five-month shoot in China clashed with her schedule for another movie.
In a recent interview with Attitude, Obsession star Michael Johnston, who has joined the cast of The Mummy 4, confirmed that he is not playing Rick and Evie’s son, Alex O’Connell. Instead, he will portray a new character.
Johnston said the movie “gives the fans exactly what they want.” Rick and Evie are returning for another adventure. He also described the film as a fast-paced action movie featuring fight scenes, chase sequences, and scenes of characters running through the streets.
He added, “We’re going on an adventure again. It’s so exciting. The film rips. It just goes immediately. It’s truly an action film. It’s fight scenes and chase scenes and running through the streets.”
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known as Radio Silence, have directed several horror films, including Ready or Not, Scream, and Abigail. They are now teaming up to direct The Mummy 4 from a screenplay by David Coggeshall.
The upcoming movie will return to the original franchise and continue its story while ignoring the events of the third installment.
