The release date for Blumhouse’s ‘The Black Phone 2‘ has been revealed. The film is set to be released in theaters on June 27, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
‘The Black Phone 2’ is the sequel to the 2022 horror film ‘The Black Phone,’ directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Blumhouse, which grossed over $160 million worldwide. The sequel is scheduled for a wide release in the summer of 2025 and continues the story of the original film.
Based on a short story by Joe Hill, ‘The Black Phone’ followed Finney, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who was abducted by a sadistic killer played by Ethan Hawke. Trapped in a soundproof basement, a disconnected phone on the wall starts ringing, allowing Finney, portrayed by Mason Thames, to hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. They are determined to prevent what happened to them from happening to Finney.
The original film in the franchise was produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse, and it was directed by Derrickson, who is well-known for movies like ‘Sinister’ and ‘Doctor Strange,’ and co-wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill.
‘The Black Phone’ earned over $160 million globally, with a budget of $18 million. The film received the 2022 Saturn Award for Best Horror Film and the 2023 Hollywood Critics Association Film Award for Best Horror.
