Emma Corrin Unveils Villain Role in ‘Deadpool 3’: Casting Mystery Revealed
Emma Corrin Praises Creators of ‘A Murder At The End Of The World’ in Exclusive Empire Interview
(Note: The interview took place before the Screen Actors Guild strike began.)
In an interview with Empire, Corrin discussed the upcoming mystery-thriller series, A Murder At The End Of The World, from the creators of The OA. She was drawn to work with Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, praising their unique approach to storytelling and their ability to capture relevant themes ahead of their time. Corrin said, “I think they’re incredibly original. I almost feel like between them, they possess this second sight. It’s kind of spooky.” Corrin added, “They are both a bit psychic in the way that they can feel things around them in the world, put pen to paper and capture something that’s in the ether, and almost predict it. To think they were writing this maybe five years ago… it’s so ahead of its time and covers so much of what we’re dealing with now in terms of our existential dread and a world where technology plays a major part of our lives.”
Corrin also revealed her villain character in ‘Deadpool 3.’ She was cast after the director, Shawn Levy, saw her in a stage production of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando. The project details were kept secret, but Corrin eagerly met with Levy, not knowing what it was about.
Corrin said, “I feel really excited to play a villain.” Corrin added, “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.” They were cast in the film after director Shawn Levy saw them on stage in a production of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando last year, though the reason for the meeting was kept tightly under wraps. “I’d heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch,” recalls Corrin. “So I met him being like, ‘I don’t know what this is about.’”
According to the film’s plot: In Deadpool 3, Wade Wilson/Deadpool is arrested for time crimes involving Cable’s device in Deadpool 2. The TVA returns Cable to his original time and confiscates his time travel technology. Deadpool gets leniency and helps the TVA on a mission. Wanda’s spirit inhabits another Wanda’s body, leading to a new world where Magneto rules and mutants are the majority. Logan hijacks the TVA device to change history and ends up in different Fox worlds. Deadpool enlists Fox’s (X-men) heroes in a fight against Magneto, resulting in chaos and casualties. Wanda is depowered and banished by the TVA, and Deadpool and others are sent to the main MCU timeline. Logan searches for mutants while Deadpool finds Blind Al in his bed.
