Exclusive: The filming for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘ is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024.
Casting Details for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’:
According to DCEUleaks, Supergirl won’t be cast until a director is chosen for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’ However, new information reveals that James Gunn will handle the casting even before the director selection.
In ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ Kara Zor-El is characterized by a punk rock edginess and a humorous side. This version of Supergirl will exhibit toughness, shaped by witnessing the destruction of her planet in her childhood. Also, Krypto is set to make an appearance in the film.
Before her solo film, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ Supergirl is set to make an appearance in the DC Universe in Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy.’
It was confirmed that Sasha Calle will not be portraying Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the DCU. In January 2023, Gunn announced a Supergirl film, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ as part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters in the DC Universe. Ana Nogueira will write the script. Initially rumored to star Calle, known for her role in ‘The Flash,’ it now seems almost confirmed that Calle will not be reprising her role as Supergirl in the DCU.
As for the DCU, Gunn said, “Nothing is canon until Creature Commandos next year—a sort of aperitif to the DCU—and then a deeper dive into the universe with Superman: Legacy after that. It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think it’s okay to be confused on what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet.” Gunn added, “And, yes, some actors will be playing characters they’ve played in other stories, and some plot points might be consistent with plot points from the dozens of films, shows, and animated projects that have come from DC in the past. But nothing is canon until CC and Legacy.”
