The first look at Vecna filming on the destroyed Downtown Hawkins set for Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 5 has been leaked online. It’s currently unknown where these pictures originated, but they were posted by the TikTok account: @/aantoo.wrldd.
The images that surfaced show Vecna fighting the military. The costume appears to be a practical effect, with CGI likely to be added during post-production.
Back in July, Netflix confirmed that filming for Season 5 (the final season) was halfway completed, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes teaser. Now, nearly 80% of the filming is complete, with the wrap expected in early November 2024.
Ross Duffer, the co-creator of the show, has already confirmed that the final season will involve multiple time jumps. Therefore, it appears Vecna will seek his revenge across different timelines. Duffer said, “I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. Also, Matt Duffer confirms that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will be the final season, concluding the stories of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper.
Season 5 stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven / Jane Hopper, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna / Henry Creel / One, and Linda Hamilton.
Speaking on Podcrushed Episode 73, Hawke teased that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will have eight episodes and revealed that writing and filming each season takes a significant amount of time.
Stranger Things Season 5 will premiere on Netflix in 2025. The exact release date has not yet been revealed.
