Does DC Studios Label Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as a Cameo Superhero?
Stop doing this to Gal Gadot. Let her in or out of the DC films. Gadot, Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), has become DC’s cameo superhero. She is now in every DC film Warner Bros. Pictures has made. This year, she made a cameo as Wonder Woman in two DC films: Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash.
Gadot deserves better. She first appeared as Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and went on to star in her standalone films, 2017’s Wonder Woman and 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984. After James Gunn and Peter Safran became the new DC Studios co-CEOs, they axed Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3.
I hope The Flash will be Gadot’s last cameo as Wonder Woman. Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has been truly remarkable. Her embodiment of Wonder Woman has been widely praised for her strength, grace, and empowering presence on screen.
The Flash is tracked to earn between $115 million–$140 million during its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The Flash, directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Christina Hodson, the plot is based on the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” and follows: Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian—albeit not the one he’s looking for. Read our review.
The film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton.
