Filming for DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow has wrapped, as confirmed by DC Studios co-head and director James Gunn.
Filming began in April 2026, taking place at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as in the United Kingdom and Cincinnati, Ohio. After about four months of production, filming wrapped in late August 2026, and the film has now entered the post-production stage.
On Instagram, Gunn confirmed that principal photography on Man of Tomorrow has officially wrapped and described the shoot as a “truly joyful experience.”
Gunn shared images showing Nicholas Hoult jumping into a lake after filming his final shot. The second photo features Gunn’s “brain trust” gathered around the video village during production. See them below.

The film is written and directed by James Gunn. It will be the fourth film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a follow-up to Superman (2025). In the film, Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) reluctantly team up to face a greater threat: the superintelligent alien android Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Last year, in an interview with The Ringer-Verse podcast, Gunn said that Man of Tomorrow has a different tone from Superman.
Gunn said, “Superman is more comic book-y in some ways than Man of Tomorrow. It has to do with the dual characters of Lex and Superman at the center. I think I’m just more interested in getting into the heart of Lex and seeing how he fits into all of this. I think getting to know more of Lex as a human being. We saw a lot about the evil part of Lex. He’s pretty evil. He, as a character, is really interesting. There’s something, despite everything, that is incredibly heroic about Lex.”
