Wes Ball‘s ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes‘ is coming to DVD and VOD — the film will be available to buy or rent on digital HD platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play Movies & TV on July 9, 2024.

According to People, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 27, 2024 — the 4K UHD edition includes an alternate cut that shows the final film alongside a version with unfinished visual effects, highlighting the actors’ performances under CGI. Titled “Inside the Lens: The Raw Cut,” the alternate version features an optional audio commentary by director Wes Ball, editor Dan Zimmerman, and VFX supervisor Erik Winquist.
The DVD also features 14 deleted and extended scenes as additional bonus features, along with a behind-the-scenes documentary called Inside the Forbidden Zone: Making Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Directed by Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. The film stars Owen Teague as Cornelius, the chimpanzee son of Caesar, along with Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Lydia Peckham, Ras-Samuel Weld A’abzgi, William H. Macy, and Dichen Lachman.
‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ has earned an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a rating of 7.2/10 on IMDb, and a 78% rating on Fandango. Additionally, audiences gave it a B CinemaScore.
Synopsis: “The franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”
‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ was released in theaters on May 10, 2024, and grossed over $376 million worldwide.
