Gilford directed the film in his debut feature-length picture and co-wrote the screenplay with David Largman Murray and Kevin Best.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the National Anthem:
Dylan (Plummer) lives an isolated life in rural New Mexico, working odd jobs to support his family. He accepts a gig at a ranch built by a group of queer rodeo performers, where he becomes entwined in the life of Sky, a talented barrel racer and free spirit. While working together in the breathtaking expanse of the Southwest, they contend with the undeniable forces of nature, family, and love.
The film stars Plummer as Dylan, Lindley as Sky, Alexander Park as Carrie, Rene Rosado as Pepe, Robyn Lively as Fiona, and Joey DeLeon as Cassidy.
