Mahershala Ali is reportedly happy with the script for Marvel’s ‘Blade.’ The film’s release may be postponed to 2026.
Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Film Updates
According to insider Daniel Richtman on Patreon, Ali is not leaving ‘Blade’ despite rumors. The script, originally written by Michael Starrbury and Nic Pizzolatto, is being rewritten by Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049). The film remains set to be R-rated, with the storyline undergoing major changes.
It is already reported that the film’s budget is less than $100 million. Set in the year 1920, the movie is directed by Yann Demange and stars Mahershala Ali in the titular role, reprising his character Eric Brooks/Blade from previous Blade films. The cast also includes Delroy Lindo as Deacon Frost, John West Jr. as DEE, Mia Goth, and Milan Ray. We reported that Goth is rumored to play Dracula’s daughter Lilith Drake, the main villain.
The film is a reboot of the franchise and the 36th film in the MCU. Produced by Kevin Feige, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Louis D’Esposito, and Bassam Tariq.
During the Game Awards 2023, Arkane Lyon, Bethesda, and Xbox unveiled a new game based on Marvel’s ‘Blade’ with a teaser trailer. The game is reportedly set for release in 2027.
In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead. From Bethesda and Arkane Lyon, the studio that brought you Dishonored and ‘Deathloop’, Marvel’s Blade is a mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris, now in development in collaboration with Marvel Games.
Currently, Marvel has scheduled ‘Blade’ to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
