Marvel Television has halted the development of Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. These projects were never fully approved and could still move forward later.
According to Deadline, Marvel has moved away from its previous approach of announcing a full slate and producing everything as planned. This follows the studio’s broader effort to refine its TV strategy, similar to the changes made with Daredevil: Born Again.
Marvel is working on many projects, but only a few will actually be made. Showrunners are now being hired to lead each series.
The studio is using a more standard approval process before deciding which projects to move forward with. This change helps keep audiences interested as the industry changes. Marvel also understands that too much content can lead to audience burnout. With the entertainment market shrinking, the studio is releasing fewer projects each year.

Marvel originally hired Sabir Pirzada to write Nova in 2022—but in December—Criminal Minds alum Ed Bernero was brought in as the new writer and showrunner. Strange Academy was rumored to be in development as a Disney+ series—focusing on Wong leading a magical school founded by Doctor Strange. Terror, Inc. was another rumored project—based on the 1992 comic about an antihero who absorbs body parts to gain abilities—but no details on its development were revealed.
In a recent Screen Rant interview, Brad Winderbaum—Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation—said, “We’re developing more than we make now, so we actually have a few different things brewing that we might see through to at least a pilot script to see if we want to make it. But there’s a lot of opportunity out there—it’s hard to choose favorites… We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”
Marvel Television’s next show is Daredevil: Born Again, coming on March 4. Other live-action shows this year include Ironheart on June 24 and Wonder Man in December.
On the movie side, Captain America: Brave New World came out on Valentine’s Day and has made over $204 million worldwide. Thunderbolts* will be released on May 2, followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25.
