Matthias Schoenaerts (Amsterdam, Brothers by Blood) has been cast as Krem of the Yellow Hills in DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Who is Krem of the Yellow Hills in DC Comics?
In DC Comics, Krem of the Yellow Hills is a villain—and a member of the Yellow Hills tribe. The Yellow Hills are often associated with Native American culture, and Krem embodies aspects of warrior traits and strength. He first appeared in Adventure Comics #397 in 1970. His character is connected to Supergirl’s own journey—as she balances her Kryptonian heritage with her human upbringing.
Milly Alcock will play the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is directed by Craig Gillespie. This film is the next chapter in the “Gods and Monsters” Phase 1 of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Extended Universe. Filming is scheduled to begin in January 2025 in the UK.
There will be multiple villains in the film, including Lobo, a ruthless bounty hunter from across the galaxy. Jason Momoa is rumored to play the character.
The screenplay is penned by Ana Nogueira, adapted from the comic book. Gunn, commenting on the announcement, said, ‘In our series, we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
Gunn said, “One of my favorite comic book series from last year was Tom King’s run on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, so we’re gonna turn that into a big science fiction epic film. Now Superman is a guy sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, whereas Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a chunk of Krypton, she watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she’s a much more jaded character.”
Gunn and Safran are producing the film, with DC EVP Chantal Nong serving as the executive producer.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
