Mia McKenna-Bruce (‘How to Have Sex’, ‘Kindling’) to lead Agatha Christie series ‘The Seven Dials Mystery‘ on Netflix. She will star alongside Helena Bonham Carter (‘The Crown’, ‘Cinderella’) and Martin Freeman (‘Miller’s Girl’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’). Chris Sweeney (‘The Tourist,’ ‘Back to Life’) will direct.
The show is created by Chris Chibnall, the creator of ‘Broadchurch’ and ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner. In a statement, McKenna-Bruce said, “Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant, and I am thrilled to be part of this new interpretation of the iconic Agatha Christie’s storytelling.”
Here’s the official synopsis for ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’:
Set in 1925 and described as a “witty, epic, and fast-paced drama,” “The Seven Dials Mystery” follows a lavish country house party where a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong. In the end, it’s up to the unlikeliest of sleuths—the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (McKenna-Bruce)—to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery. Bonham Carter and Freeman will play the characters Lady Caterham and Superintendent Battle, respectively.
The series is executive produced by ‘The Crown’ executive producer Suzanne Mackie under her Orchid Pictures banner, along with Chris Sussman (‘Good Omens’). Chibnall will executive produce the show through his company Imaginary Friends, and James Prichard of Agatha Christie Limited is also an executive producer on the series. Andy Stebbing is on board as an executive producer, and Joanna Crow will be the series producer.
Filming for ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’ will begin this summer. This marks the first announced series from Orchid, which Mackie established in 2020 under a deal with Netflix, following her 12-year tenure at ‘The Crown’ producer Left Bank Pictures.
‘The Seven Dials Mystery’ is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025, with the exact date to be announced (TBA).
