Avengers: Doomsday will feature Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson at the center of the team, says Captain America: Brave New World producer Nate Moore.
During the promotion of Captain America: Brave New World at Trafalgar Square in London, United Kingdom, producer Moore spoke to TheMovieReport.com about how Mackie’s Captain America will be leading the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday.
Moore says that every Avengers film has featured a Captain America at its core, and Sam Wilson carries that legacy forward. Brave New World will show how Sam earns the title of Captain America in his own way and will help prepare him for an even bigger challenge in the next Avengers movie. Sam will use what he learns in this movie to help the Avengers fight a powerful new threat.
Moore said, “It’s no secret we’re starting to build to Avengers 5.“ Moore added, “I think there’s never been an Avengers movie where there’s not a Captain America at the center of it, so this is about Sam Wilson showing the world that he is deserving of the mantle and why he’s both Captain America and not Steve Rogers. […] And I think he’s going to take the skills from this film and figure out how he can be helpful as the Avengers fight a new threat.”
Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin filming in late March 2025 in London, UK, and wrap by August 2025. The film will be directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely.
In Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. will play the role of Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as an Nomad, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23 and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday will be a multiverse film—because it’s the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. The plot of Avengers: Doomsday follows Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place—Battleworld—under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Russo Brothers will produce through their AGBO banner.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
