Steven Yeun exits Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts‘ due to Hollywood labor strike delays.
Why Did Steven Yeun Leave Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thunderbolts was struck by last year’s dual writers and actors strikes, which put schedules in disarray across Hollywood. As a result, Yeun won’t play Sentry in ‘Thunderbolts’ anymore.
Marvel is casting a “high-tech militia group” to oppose the ‘Thunderbolts’ team in the film, with filming scheduled from March to July 2024, with Marvel Studios considering an R-rating for the film, as revealed by insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK).
Directed by Jake Schreier from a script written by Lee Sung Jin and Eric Pearson. The plot details are kept secret in the Marvel database. Also, Schreier has already confirmed that the ‘Thunderbolts’ will consist of individuals who share a common history of past trauma.
‘Thunderbolts’ stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Sadie Sink as Songbird, and Ayo Edebiri as Erin.
So, Marvel will be searching for a new actor to play Sentry in the MCU. It is confirmed that in ‘Thunderbolts,’ The Void, associated with Robert “Bob” Reynolds’ negative aspects, transforms into a realm that characters can enter in the third act. This deviation from Sentry’s character aligns with inspiration from the comics.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Brian Chapek, Matthew Jenkins, and David J. Grant.
‘Thunderbolts’ will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
