The fourth installment in the Conjuring is in development at New Line Cinema. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is set to pen the script for ‘The Conjuring 4’ and James Wan and Peter Safran are returning to produce. Till now, there are 8 successful films in the Conjuring Universe, which grossed $2.1 billion combined. The last film in the Conjuring franchise was ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ released in 2021 and grossed $206 million against a budget of $39 million.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their role as Ed and Lorraine Warren, confirmed by THR. The Conjuring franchise is based on real-life cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who attempt to assist people who find themselves possessed by demonic spirits, while the spin-off films focus on the origins of some of the entities the Warrens have encountered.
Johnson-McGoldrick had a long-run history with Warner Bros., he started with Orphan (2009) and later wrote Red Riding Hood and Wrath of the Titans for the studio. Recently he penned the script for DC’s Aquaman and returned for the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. which is scheduled to release in December 2023.
The Nun 2 from the Conjuring franchise is scheduled for a September 8, 2023 release date. The film is directed by Michael Chaves and written by Akela Cooper. Wan and Peter Safran co-produced the film. Released by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema. See the plot.
