In a deleted scene from ‘The Flash’, young Barry Allen shares a sad rumor about Keaton’s Batman. According to Andy Muschietti, this rumor is why Batman retired. About 25 years ago, Batman allegedly killed a criminal in front of their child, which reminded him of the tragedy when his parents were killed in front of him. Watch the clip below.
Muschietti said, “Michael Keaton’s Batman retired after killing a criminal in front of their child.” He added, “Which is an exact mirroring situation of what happened to him when his parents were killed in front of him.”
Directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Christina Hodson, the plot is based on the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” and follows: Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian—albeit not the one he’s looking for. Read our review.

Produced by DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film’s sequel is already in development.
