Zack Snyder‘s original vision for the DCEU could have concluded with a Flashpoint, but we know it won’t come to pass due to the DCEU’s reboot under James Gunn‘s DCU. The DCEU hadn’t appropriately concluded because of the poor execution of recent films like ‘The Flash‘.
Zack Snyder’s Original DCEU Conclusion: “Flashpoint” and the Evolution of the Snyderverse
Jay Oliva, the storyboard artist for several DCEU movies and director of the acclaimed DC animated film “Flashpoint Paradox,” revealed that Zack Snyder’s original plan for the DCEU’s conclusion was “Flashpoint.” In Zack’s Darkseid quadrilogy or similar structure, the intention was to evolve into a ‘Justice League Unlimited’ version of the Snyderverse. Then, a ‘Flashpoint Paradox’ scenario would unfold, turning friends into enemies in a world unfit to exist. This approach would allow a universe reboot and the introduction of a new cast, as after a decade, actors would naturally move on to other projects.
Oliva said, “At the ending of Zack’s Darkseid quadrilogy, or whatever, we would end up with a Justice League Unlimited version of the Snyderverse.” Oliva added, “And then you flip it. You do the Flashpoint Paradox. Everybody’s friends are now enemies, and it’s a world that you don’t want to live in. You can reboot the universe and introduce a new cast that way. Because after 10 years, the actors need to go onto something else.”
Zack Snyder’s DCEU featured Eobard Thawne’s Arrival in “The Flash,” affecting the overarching Plot of the Flash and Justice League movies
Jay Oliva revealed that in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash movie would have set the stage for Eobard Thawne (Professor Zoom) to become the main villain. Thawne’s influence would extend beyond the Flash movies, affecting the Justice League in other related films.
Oliva said, “Rick’s movie was laying the groundwork for Zoom as the big baddy of the DC Universe.” Oliva added, “It was Professor Zoom pulling the strings because he had come from the future to basically f*ck with Barry. In the Flash movies, Zoom would be the villain in the background. But also in the ancillary other films, you would see some of the influences of Zoom on the rest of the Justice League.”
Oliva recently revealed that Ben Affleck‘s canceled Batman movie aimed to bring a fresh angle to Batman’s 80-year comic legacy.
