‘Sky High‘ director Mike Mitchell wants a sequel to be produced by Marvel Studios.
Mitchell revealed that he had met with Marvel President Kevin Feige years ago to discuss the film. Feige admired how the Disney Original Movie welcomed the whimsical aspects of superheroes while instilling a passion for costumed crime fighters.
Will a ‘Sky High’ Sequel Happen?
During a chat with ComicBook.com ahead of promoting Mitchell’s new film ‘Kung Fu Panda 4,’ he suggested that Marvel should take on the Sky High sequel.
Mitchell said, “If we could pull Kevin into it, And we could get Disney to… Disney’s so scared of Marvel.” Mitchell added. “Only Marvel can do superhero films. To which I say, ‘Great!’ Let’s have Marvel do Sky High! That would be fun. So, I’m ready to go.”
Mitchell continued, “Oh yeah, I love superheroes.” Mitchell added, ‘I did a superhero film years ago, Sky High, and I’m such a fan. It would be great to see a DC and Marvel character in the same film. That would be fantastic. Maybe just cram them all together into one ultimate film! I’m sure it’s going to happen at some point, but I couldn’t be more happy to work on something like that. It would be fantastic!”
‘Sky High’ was released in 2005, directed by Mitchell and starring Michael Angarano, Danielle Panabaker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Kurt Russell. The story revolves around a high school for teenage superheroes, where students are divided into “heroes” and “sidekicks” based on their abilities. The protagonist, Will Stronghold, is the son of two famous superheroes and struggles to find his own powers while navigating the challenges of high school life.
‘Sky High’ is now available on Disney+.
