Joseph Gordon-Levitt will direct an untitled AI thriller for T-Street Productions, a company co-founded by Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman.
According to Deadline, Anne Hathaway will star in the film. Gordon-Levitt co-wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald, who also worked on the 2016 movie Snowden, in which Gordon-Levitt starred. Both share a “story by” credit with Natasha Lyonne, who stars in Poker Face, a show created by Rian Johnson.
No official plot details have been released yet, but the film is being called an AI thriller, with a focus on artificial intelligence. This project is another collaboration between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the team behind Knives Out, strengthening his connection with Johnson’s creative team.
The untitled AI thriller is the latest project in the ongoing collaboration between Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rian Johnson, and T-Street Productions. Gordon-Levitt and Johnson have been working together since the 2005 film Brick, where Gordon-Levitt starred. The film became a cult classic.
Gordon-Levitt also starred in Looper (2012), a sci-fi film by Johnson, where he played a younger version of Bruce Willis. Later, Gordon-Levitt appeared as a guest on Johnson’s TV show Poker Face.
Ram Bergman, co-founder of T-Street Productions, produced Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon (2013), and Rian Johnson gave feedback on the script and reviewed several cuts of the film.
Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway previously starred together in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), directed by Christopher Nolan. Hathaway is now set to reunite with Nolan for a new film with Universal.
