The first footage from Chad Stahelski‘s Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill, was shown to attendees during the Amazon MGM panel at CinemaCon 2026.
According to reports from attendees, “The action sequences in Highlander are brutal, recalling the world of Stahelski’s John Wick films. They notably feature a fight in a neon-lit rave, as well as numerous sword duels and motorcycle chases.”
As the film is still in production, Cavill appeared in a video message to tease the project, which led into the first footage of him as the Highlander.

Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, and Stahelski also appeared in a video to explain the premise: “The Immortals are racing toward the Gathering. And there can be only one.”
Here’s the description of the Highlander CinemaCon footage:
“My name is Connor MacLeod,” Henry Cavill says in a Scottish accent in the footage. “I was born in 1518. And I am immortal.”
The footage shows Connor sword-fighting in a neon-drenched club, intercut with behind-the-scenes footage and direct-to-camera interviews from the film’s stars.
Cavill is also seen practicing swordplay and gun work, while Marisa Abela talks about the intensity of her role alongside action sequences featuring her character.
The behind-the-scenes footage is filled with bright colors and massive practical sets. The package ends with several actors saying, “There can be only one,” before concluding with Dave Bautista’s Kurgan holding Abela’s character by the throat.
Cavill confirmed that production is still underway in multiple locations, such as the Scottish Highlands and Hong Kong.
Here are the plot details for Highlander:
“Centuries after his first death on a Scottish battlefield, immortal warrior Connor MacLeod (Henry Cavill) lives quietly in the modern world, haunted by loss and the endless cycle of violence among his kind. When the ruthless immortal Kurgan resurfaces—backed by a secret organization bent on unlocking the secret of eternal life—Connor is forced back into the Game, an ancient battle where ‘there can be only one.’”
The film stars Cavill as Connor MacLeod, alongside Russell Crowe as Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, Dave Bautista as the Kurgan, Karen Gillan as Heather MacLeod, Djimon Hounsou as Sunda Kastagir, Drew McIntyre as Angus MacLeod, and Jeremy Irons as the leader of the Watchers, with additional cast members including Marisa Abela, Max Zhang, Siobhán Cullen, Jeon Jong-seo, Nassim Lyes, and Kevin McKidd.
Highlander will be released by Amazon MGM Studios under the United Artists banner in theaters in 2026.
