The filming for Disney’s live-action Tangled, starring Kathryn Hahn, Teagan Croft, Milo Manheim, and Diego Luna, has begun in Alicante, Spain.
The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey is directing the film from a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor. The film is based on Disney’s Academy Award-nominated 2010 animated classic Tangled. The film reimagines Disney’s Tangled, following Rapunzel as she leaves her tower with Flynn Rider and embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
In the film, Teagan Croft stars as Rapunzel alongside Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, the thief who helps her escape the tower. Kathryn Hahn plays the villainous Mother Gothel, while Diego Luna has been cast in an undisclosed role. More casting announcements are expected soon.
On Instagram, Camryn Manheim, who is also the mother of actor Milo Manheim, posted new photos from Spain. The images also reveal Teagan Croft’s noticeably shorter hairstyle as she prepares to play Rapunzel. She may be wearing a wig or have her hair enhanced with CGI for the film. See the image below.

Manheim also shared a photo with her son, Milo Manheim, and Andor star Luna.

The film is produced by Kristin Burr under Burr! Productions, with Lucy Kitada executive producing. Disney Live Action’s EVP of Production, Jessica Virtue, is overseeing the project.
The original Tangled, directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, reimagined the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale. The film follows Rapunzel, a princess with magical golden hair, as she escapes her tower with the charming thief Flynn Rider and uncovers the truth about her past. It grossed over $590 million worldwide and earned an Academy Award nomination for the song “I See the Light.”
Disney’s live-action Tangled is set to hit theaters in 2027.
