Courteney Cox is reportedly set to return as Gale Weathers in Kevin Williamson‘s ‘Scream VII,’ as confirmed by insider Daniel Richtman on Patreon.
‘Scream VII’ Returning Cast Member Update:
According to recent updates, Patrick Dempsey is reportedly in discussions to return as Mark Kincaid in ‘Scream VII’. He was previously announced to play Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) husband in ‘Scream 5’.
The new script, penned by Guy Busick and based on a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick, is nearly complete. Filming is expected to commence sometime after May or in May 2024.
Williamson, the original writer of Scream will direct ‘Scream VII,’ with Campbell returning as Sidney Prescott. In a statement, Campbell said, “Hi all. I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! Well, actually, I could.”
Produced by Paramount Pictures, Radio Silence Productions, and Spyglass.
Christopher Landon was supposed to direct ‘Scream VII’ before stepping down seven weeks ago, around the same time Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega exited the film. On November 21, 2023, it was reported that Spyglass Media Group had fired actor Barrera from the seventh Scream movie due to social media posts characterized as antisemitic. Also, a day later, it was announced that fellow star Ortega would not be returning to the film. Barrera was fired in October due to her outspoken stance during the Israel-Hamas war, while Ortega decided to leave before the summer SAG-AFTRA strike.
The release date for ‘Scream VII’ is set for 2025, distributed by Paramount Pictures.
