Neve Campbell is not returning to Scream 6. The sixth installment in the Scream franchise is officially announced in Feb 2022. The film will be a sequel to Scream 5. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett is set to direct and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will write the screenplay.
Why Did Neve Campbell Left Scream 6?
It is shocking news to Scream fans that Neve Campbell is not returning to the sixth installment. On June 6, Campbell announced that she will not appear in Scream 6 and also announced her exit from the Scream franchise. In a statement, Campbell told that the offer to star in “Scream 6” did not properly “equate” to the value she brings to the franchise. She told that her offer for Scream 6 is very low.
Campbell told to People that “I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years,” Campbell said. “And as a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued.”
Campbell added, “I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man. And in my soul, I just couldn’t do that. I couldn’t walk on the set feeling that — feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that.”
Scream 5 was released on January 14, 2022. The film grossed $140 million worldwide with a $24 million production cost. In the next installment, the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.
Scream 6 stars Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, and Tony Revolori.
