The cast of the upcoming Avengers movies is reaching new heights. Recently, it was confirmed that Scarlett Johansson will reportedly return in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
In a recent update from insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon post, it was revealed that Johansson is making her return to the MCU and will appear in the upcoming Avengers films. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether she will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow or play a new character.
Johansson last appeared in the MCU in Avengers: Endgame (2019), where Natasha sacrificed herself to obtain the Soul Stone, and Black Widow (2021), a prequel set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. She is also an executive producer for the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie.
In Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. will play the role of Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as an Nomad, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man, Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Most recently, a rumor has appeared that Marvel is in discussions with Ana de Armas for a role in Doomsday.
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin in March 2025, with the Russo Brothers directing and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Unusually for Marvel, the Russo Brothers will also produce both films through their AGBO banner.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
