The suit for ‘Blue Beetle’ has been displayed at CinemaCon 2023 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. According to Cinepop, an exclusive poster was also featured at CinemaCon 2023. The first teaser trailer was released last month, and it got a good response from the audience. See the images below.
In DC Comics, Jaime Reyes is the third character to take on the mantle of Blue Beetle. He made his debut in 2006 in the comic book series “Infinite Crisis” and has since become a beloved character among DC Comics fans. Jaime is a teenage boy of Mexican-American heritage who lives in El Paso, Texas. Jaime’s origin story involves him discovering a scarab-like object that fuses to his spine, granting him a powerful exosuit and transforming him into the Blue Beetle. The Scarab is of extraterrestrial origin and provides Jaime with enhanced strength, speed, agility, and energy projection abilities. It also allows him to generate protective armor and various weapons from the suit, making him a formidable superhero.
Angel Manuel Soto directs the film from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. Xolo Maridueña plays Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle in the film, which also stars Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez.
According to test screening reports, the entire Blue Beetle cast does a great job. Fans loved the sweet, comedic family dynamic of the “Reyes Family.” 30% of the film is in Spanish with subtitles.
Blue Beetle will be released in theaters on August 18, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
