In the new ‘Spider-Man 2‘ game trailer, Insomniac reveals the first look at a 3000-feet Sandman, a recent addition to the game’s roster of villains. This addition is part of the game’s ambitious and high-cost production, demonstrating Insomniac’s commitment to its uncompromised vision under Sony.
Who is the Sandman in this universe, and how does he differ from the traditional character?
In this universe, Sandman is now William Baker, not Flint Marko. He tried to rob F.E.A.S.T., but May Parker stopped him. This Sandman is similar to the comic version, where Flint Marko was an alias used by Baker to hide from his imprisoned father. Spider-Man 2 takes place 9 months after the events of “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” (2020).
How Many Villains Are Featured in ‘Spider-Man 2’?
Spider-Man 2 features characters like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, Wraith (Yuri Watanabe), Lizard (Curt Connors), Sandman (William Baker), and Harry Osborn as villains. The game also expands its open world to include new areas like Brooklyn and Queens in New York City.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third game in the series. According to Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will explore different locations within New York City besides outer Manhattan, such as Queens. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are playable as Spider-Man, with a different set of abilities: Peter Parker now has the Venom suit that gives him abilities that greatly improve his combat prowess and ability to defeat multiple goons at once, while Miles Morales has his unique abilities such as Camouflage invisibility and his venom blast. Also, the bar-based Focus system returns from the first game, meaning Miles’ Bio Electric from his spin-off game is integrated into the L1-based Power Gauge system alongside Peter’s own Power Gauge system.
