Disney’s live-action film Snow White has a massive budget that has reportedly exceeded initial estimates, as reported by Forbes.
As reported, the Snow White remake has incurred costs of $269.4 million (£217.7 million) as of the end of 2023—exceeding its budget more than a year before release. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2025.
Recently, a teaser trailer for Snow White was revealed, featuring Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Rachel Zegler, a Latina actress of Colombian descent, as Snow White. Following this, Zegler faced racist backlash due to her casting in the titular role. She described the original fairytale as “extremely dated” in its portrayal of women’s roles and criticized Prince Charming’s behavior, likening it to that of a “stalker.”
Zegler said “It fell back to another version of Snow White that was told in history, where she survived a snowstorm that occurred when she was a baby. And so the king and queen decided to name her Snow White to remind her of her resilience. One of the core points in our film for any young woman or young person is remembering how strong you actually are.”
