Exclusive: Channing Tatum has been confirmed to play the role of Gambit in Marvel’s ‘Deadpool 3‘. Gambit is a mutant and a member of the X-Men. According to reports, Tatum has already filmed a cameo scene for the film. This cameo marks Channing Tatum’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Recently, the release date of ‘Deadpool 3’ has been shifted from November 8, 2024, to May 3, 2024.
Who Is Gambit In Marvel Comics?
In Marvel comics, Gambit, a.k.a. Remy LeBeau, first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #266 in 1990. Gambit is a mutant with the ability to manipulate and charge objects with explosive kinetic energy. He typically uses playing cards as his weapon of choice, charging them and throwing them with deadly accuracy. Gambit has a complex past as a thief and has been a member of the X-Men. He is known for his charming personality and romantic relationship with Rogue.
Gambit appeared in the 2009 film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” played by Taylor Kitsch. In May 2019, Channing Tatum revealed to Variety that he was almost cast as Gambit in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” but the role went to Taylor Kitsch instead.
Shawn Levy is directing the film. Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Rob Delaney as Peter, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and new additions Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. The script is penned by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy.
In Deadpool 3, Wade Wilson/Deadpool is arrested for time crimes involving Cable’s device in Deadpool 2. The TVA returns Cable to his original time and confiscates his time travel technology. Deadpool gets leniency and helps the TVA on a mission. Wanda’s spirit inhabits another Wanda’s body, leading to a new world where Magneto rules and mutants are the majority. Logan hijacks the TVA device to change history and ends up in different Fox worlds. Deadpool enlists Fox’s (X-men) heroes in a fight against Magneto, resulting in chaos and casualties. Wanda is depowered and banished by the TVA, and Deadpool and others are sent to the main MCU timeline. Logan searches for mutants while Deadpool finds Blind Al in his bed.
‘Deadpool 3’ hits theaters on May 3, 2024.
