Sam Raimi is eagerly awaiting a call from Marvel Studios, as he would love to direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘. We have already reported that Alfonso Cuarón and Raimi are Marvel’s top choices to direct Secret Wars at this time.
Will Sam Raimi Direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’?
During WonderCon 2024, while speaking to Screen Geek, Raimi said he wants to direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ but Marvel hasn’t asked him yet.
Raimi said, “I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again.” Raimi added, “They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”
Raimi previously directed the ‘Spider-Man‘ trilogy for Sony/Marvel, starring Tobey Maguire. In 2022, he directed the MCU film ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘. He also recently revealed that ‘Spider-Man 4’ will soon happen.
‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is a sequel to previous Avengers movies, including “The Avengers,” “Age of Ultron,” “Infinity War,” “Endgame,” and “The Kang Dynasty.” The film is the forty-sixth installment in the MCU, serving as the final chapter of Phase Six and The Multiverse Saga. As previously reported, ‘Secret Wars’ will be a soft reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Earth-1999. It marks the end of the current MCU and the Fox-Verse, setting the stage for a new and distinct MCU.
In ‘Secret Wars,’ Maguire will reprise his role as Spider-Man, following his last appearance in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine, continuing from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ hits theaters on May 7, 2027. See more details on Secret Wars.
