Steven Yeun was Marvel Studios‘ first choice to play Sentry, before Lewis Pullman took the role in the Thunderbolts* movie, which is now playing in theaters.
A new Marvel concept art of Yeun as Sentry was revealed in a leaked photo. It shows Sentry wearing the Sentry costume and having golden hair. See the image below.

When comparing concept art of Yeun’s look as Sentry with Pullman’s Sentry in Thunderbolts*, Pullman looks like a more perfect casting.
Yeun was originally cast as Sentry in Thunderbolts*, but had to drop out due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike causing Thunderbolts* to delay production to 2024. He had already signed with Warner Bros. to do Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, which was going to be filming around the same time, causing him to drop out as Sentry.
In Thunderbolts, Pullman plays Bob Reynolds / Sentry (Void), who is struggling with crippling anxiety and other mental health issues. He could also, at any moment, unleash the Void.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Pullman said, “Bob serves an interesting purpose, and I was discovering that along the way.” He added, “He is, in some ways, a vessel to learn about how these other outcasts deal with pressure, rejection, death, and loneliness. How do they deal with a bizarre problem like this?”
Directed by Jake Schreier and stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as Mel.
Here’s the synopsis for Thunderbolts*:
“In Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap — set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine — these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart — or find redemption and unite as something much more — before it’s too late?”
Thunderbolts* is now playing in theaters and has grossed $162.1 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
